Isn't it funny how things come back to haunt you as a parent. I clearly remember shoving food in my cheeks and storing it there like a chipmunk until I had an opportunity to spit it out. Specifically, cooked carrots. I am sure my parents knew what was going on and just got tired of me sitting at the table with these carrots protruding out my cheeks. They would excuse me and I'd head for the bathroom or over the fence in the back yard to spit them out. I still hate cooked carrots and don't cook them. Tonight we had a stir fry and I made the kids some steamed broccoli. Kyndra isn't very adventuresome with her food to say the least, very unlike Avery and here is her reaction to the broccoli.
Joe is really good about making them eat their dinner as a "snack" if they don't finish what we make for them. Looking at their plates sitting on the table right now makes me gag :o) Funny thing...if they get hungry enough they sit down and eat it! Gork.
I've had some time to reflect on this and laugh with some friends. By not eating new and different foods Kyndra isn't going to starve, she isn't malnourished, she is still thriving and growing. In the past I have fought her on things like this and I am thankful to have friends who have shown me about choosing your battles. This is a battle I chose not to fight, instead Joe and I laughed with her about it. At the same time, she didn't get a snack, because she didn't finish her dinner, she didn't even ask because that dinner plate was still sitting at the table. This wasn't worth the battle it would have been and I didn't feel the need to "win." We all won this time.

Those pictures just make me laugh! I have no other comment as I am giggling!! Landon could sympathize with you Kyndra. :)
I'm laughing right now...picturing you as a child with cheeks full of carrots :)
Great post! Cooked carrots are not my favorite vegetable either : ) As a kid, I would always feed (sneak)them to my cat- he loved them.
