HEEEYYY!! I want.....

These are the words I hear the most now days. The world is an unfair place for Avery right now and I don't quite know how to make it better.

Heeeyyy! I want to be first!
Heeeyyy! I want the red cup!
Heeeyyy! I want that crayon!
Heeeyyy! I want to find a ladybug too!

Yep, the list goes on, use your imagination. I Googled sibling rivlary and whining and the "experts" say that most of the time it has something to do with how the parent reacts to the situation. Does the parent ignore the whining? Or yell? Or whine back? Well.....to use my favorite Reneeism....DUH! Some days I feel like head is going to explode if I hear another "HEEEYYY!"

What to do? What to do?

Avery is doing things, almost everything, earlier than Kyndra ever did. She is riding a bike a full year earlier than her big sister. She talked earlier, walked earlier, fed herself earlier....WAY earlier :) But her 3 year old brain still thinks she is being slighted.

I vow every night to try harder the next day. I have been reading Julie Ann Barnhill's She's gonna Blow! again. One chapter is called "Keeping Things Cool" (and here I though I was doing that with cocktails!) She tells us that "there is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven" - among the things listed are these things that jumped out at me tonight:
~ A time to weep and a time to laugh.
~ A time to be silent and a time to speak.
~ A time to tear apart and a time to sew together.
~ A time for war and a time for peace.

This too shall pass :)

I hear ya girlfriend! I don't have 2 yet... but my 1 is becoming more and more independent by the second... and whatever Ian or I have... he wants it too! What will things be like with 2?!
This too shall pass ... words I live by!!
Let me know if you figure out the "perfect" solution. :)

Everytime that I start to get frustrated with Landon and his whining, etc, I remind myself to be thankful that he can walk, talk, eat, run, think and do things for himself. In the meantime, that does not help them to see how well they really do have life right now. Oh the joys of being a second born! One day at a time Stac!
