Google Custom Search Engine - It's working now!

I don't know what happened but this wasn't working right. Try it again!

Okay all you teachers out there...HOLD ONTO YOUR HATS! I am so excited about this discovery I can hardly type fast enough. I just found that you can create a Google Custom Search Engine. What that means in plain English is that you can specify which web sites are searched from your search engine. Take this one, for example:

I created this custom search for Early Literacy. It will search some of my favorite reading, writing, listening sites for children. For example, try typing in "vocabulary," or "spelling." You can then refine the search to look for games or activities. Here are some more ideas to search for: abc, money, coloring.

If you are doing an African animal study, find the sites you want them to search, it could even just be one! Make a custom search engine and embed it on your web page or blog. Then, when your students are searching for facts about their animals, they are only going to those pages you specified. If you don't have the capability to embed in your web pages, then just point them to the link, like the one above.

I know I'm a geek! Isn't it fun!
