birthDAY party

This was not a birthday party...it was an entireday party.
How did that happen?
Well, I'm not quite sure, but it started with Landon spending the night in the pop-up camper we borrowed from Aunt Beth and next thing I knew I was saying "sure Heather, I can watch them all day, you go ahead and shop with your mom...it'll be fun."
It started with the slip-n-slide.

Then we moved onto squirt gun fights.

More water fun.

Oh yeah, I guess I had to feed them, too!
I always, and I mean always, forget how much more Landon eats than the girls. I might get it right by the time they graduate from high school.

Somewhere in here they watched a movie, High School Musical, of course. I would have gotten a picture but I was sleeping on the couch. I didn't sleep much the night before in the pop-up with the three snoring bunkmates.

After they were well rested from dancing and singing along with the movie, we moved onto bubbles.

Um, I also missed the pictures of the balloon relay races. I guess I was too busy holding balloons that wanted to fly into the rose bushes. Joe had somehow disappeared for most of the day. I think he was on a dump run during the relay races.

Because I was tired of blowing up balloons, we started the "craft" of making hats.
Have I ever mentioned I was a high school teacher?
Have I ever mentioned I was not an elementary school teacher?

These kids came up with some excellent, individual creations. They kept busy making these for about an hour. Next thing I knew it was dinner time.What, no pictures of dinner? I think I was frantically cleaning up before parents arrived for dinner. Or I was drinking....can't remember.

Then came the long-awaited birthday cake. They even liked the jell-o a little frozen from being in the freezer for two days.

It was a fun day...I just wish the crick in my neck would go away. I'm not sure which of the above activities would have pushed this old body to the limits but it was worth it.

Tomorrow we are heading out on the first family raft trip of the year. Two, or as Joe says, possibly three (what do you suppose he means by that) nights on the John Day. Pray to the Sun Gods for us!
