We had a fire drill today. It wasn't a planned event. The girls were in the middle of playing "let's pretend" and I overheard a "let's pretend that the house is on fire."
Me: Do you know what to do if the house really is on fire?
Kyndra: No
Avery: No
Me: I want you to jump out your window!
Girls: WOAH! COOL!
I went on to show them how to get the stick out of the runner, unlock the window, and push it open. Then I went about my business of laundry or whatever I was doing. Next thing I know, Kyndra comes to ask if they could "practice" jumping out the window. "Sure, give me a sec to get my shoes on." I go outside and there is Avery, hanging out the window. I plopped her back up on her bum and ran for my camera.

Wow! you girls are brave!! Are you going to have a fire drill while the great-grammas are there for Thanksgiving? ha!
We just did a fire drill about a month ago...but we didn't actually get to practice going out of the window...they are on the 2nd floor, so we are only going to do that if it is a real emergency.
Oh goodness - how fun is that?! Mason would be doing that every day if I showed him how... :)
Maybe I'll start practicing next summer :)
Way to be on top of things Stacy!!
The fire department just went to Chelsea's pre school and they learned how to Stop! Drop! and Roll! She practices all the time. Great idea to have a fire drill at home. Not sure I want to show the princess how to climb out the upstairs window quite yet but probably a good idea. Lets hope none of us ever have to put this into play.
How cool!!! I hope you never have to put your plan into action, but your girls sure look ready.
Throwing Badge out the window first is definitely in the plan... I'm guessing if he is anything like my Kyndra's Mr. Bear.
Stacy: I'm behind on reading your blog. First, the puppies are adorable! Stinking cute, can't wait to meet them! Shopping! My sister has one girl that wouldn't wear pants for the first 4 years of her life and now well anything goes - to the point that I think it might be better if she had a few rules. Smile. Love that you took the time to show the girls what to do in case of a fire - so important! That is really cool - you are a cool Mom.
