Kokusai Street...Miracle Mile

The agenda for today was Shuri Castle and Kokusai Street but Shuri Castle was closed for an unknown reason for an unknown number of days so darn darn we shopped all day. The Miracle Mile is more than a mile, its at least a 5 K! We shopped and shopped, I made Brenna late for softball and I could still go back and shop some more.

So we headed to find a parking spot, which is really hard when you can't read any signs. We found one that had a big P and seemed like a parking garage. Once we started driving up it was evident that it was a parking spot for a Pachinko or gambling spot. We parked there anyway and rode the elevator down.
Phew, it smelled of cigarette smoke!
Next, we hit the street and saw this funny sign for a liquor store:
Orion: For your happy time
I'll admit it, we were lost.
Pam wanted to hit this pottery district so we asked for directions.
This gal was kind enough to put on shoes and come out to show us the way.
People here are so nice, it really is unbelievable.
They love the girls especially.
They love to touch their hair, and cheeks, and talk to them.
This picture is the end caps of the roof tiles.
Really beautiful, everything is really beautiful.
The girls and I were siting in some shade waiting for Aunt Pam to make a McDonalds run.
Along came an elderly man with a teacher and group of junior high girls.
They needed to use the pump we were sitting by and offered to get the girls a bucket of cold water to cool off with.
He was getting water to water the plants.
Then! Then they asked the girls if they wanted a turn pumping the water!

He would throw the water on the plants.
Next we hit Heiwadori Street, a covered shopping mall that led to Kokusai Street
The smells, the sounds, the atmosphere...it's all amazing.
The people on Kokusai Street were just as friendly and intrigued with the 5 girls with "the same faces."
Like I said, I could go back and spend another day but I'm not sure these 5 could.
They were troupers, shopping all day, eating Indian food for lunch, being patted by strangers.
We might try to hit Shuri Castle again if it's open and I might be able to squeeze another hour out of Kokusai Steet...if I'm lucky.

Will you be buying another suitcase for all your purchases? ha! Seriously, don't you sometimes feel you are on Fantasy Island? Have you inquired about jobs yet?
