First Canoe Ride

We took the girls out today for their first canoe ride on McKay Reservoir and it was a great little adventure. The canoe is huge, large enough for multi-day trips, and very stable. They sat side-by-side in the middle and even helped row for awhile. The day wasn't as calm as they have been, but we paddled into the wind on the way up the lake so we had it at our backs for the way home....perfect. I think the only wildlife we saw were these two geese that seemed sort of out of place, they would fit in better at a city park or on a farm. They got to get out and throw rocks in the water and also got good and muddy. Kyndra, of course, had to change into the spare clothes I brought as soon as we got back to the car.

I have been anxious and nervous about getting them out on the water with us because I just want it to be a positive experience for them. It is so important to us that they enjoy the water and want to spend time on it like we do. I am not sure if I am ready for any over-nighters with them yet but possibly on an easy-flowing river this summer, who knows. I don't know if my nerves can take it, I am sure they would do just fine!
