From the mouths...

Tonight as I was putting the kids to bed Avery said, "the pennies didn't work?" and I just had to giggle. She had heard me talking to Ronda about the penny bribe I tried for a couple of days. We all would start the day with 10 pennies, when they whined, I would get a penny, when they talked nicely, they would get a penny. At the end of the day they would get one M&M for each penny. It didn't work as far as I was concerned, or maybe we just didn't try long enough. First, I didn't like giving them candy at the end of the day and second, they would start crying when I took a penny.

Anyway, I said, "No, it didn't stop the whining and crying. I don't know what will work." She then said, "I like to be tickled." Hee hee, isn't this funny, she has known what will stop her whining all along. Actually, I have been plugging my ears and making a face every time they whine pretending that it hurt my ears. It actually has been working. Thanks to everyone who participated in my poll, and please keep the strategies coming!

What amazes me is how smart and funny they can be in one breath and in the next they can be pushing every button I have to push. I have been writing down some things they said that were particularly funny and thought I'd share:
"I'm not whimpering, my mouth is just beeping." - Kyndra...pretty self explanatory.
"That is annoying my ears." -Avery to Kyndra when she was acting like a kitty.
"It's nice and quiet." - Avery at the dinner table during a quiet moment.

And then there was Kyndra telling this story on our way home tonight. "Do you know where stars come from? God makes wishes and throws them up in the sky for people to wish on or just spy." She continues with, "Sometimes I just know things, sometimes I don't."

You gotta love them! Whether they are crying and driving you crazy or telling you a sweet story, you just can't help but love them to pieces.
