Whining Poll

Okay all you readers out there, anonymous or not, I am desperately seeking some mothering advice. Please take this poll! I could use all the help I can get right now and it'll be fun to see everyone's answers. I can't track you, can't tell who the answers come from, I just can get your advice and results. HELP! My children are driving me crazy!

I thought it would allow us to see the "other" comments but I have to log into Polldaddy to see them. So, I'll just list them here:
  • say to them I can't hear you when you whine--just keep saying it--they WILL stop
  • stuff a wet rag or dirty sock into her mouth
  • iHug - ignore and hug
  • Tell him I can't understand and when he is ready to use a big voice he has my attention.

Make sure you let your whiner know that "this is what you sound like" Even better, grab a small tape recorder and record your whiner and play it back for them. It will open their eyes!

Yes my vote is whine back. Unfortunately I have to admit that I have yelled for the whining to cease and I have said more than once that they were driving me crazy! Sad I know but I think admitting the problem is the first step right?!?!?

For never having been a mom, I still have an opinion on the whiner! You have tell them. If that doesn't work then you just give them "the look". It always worked for my Mom and now I see my sister has adopted "the look". YIKES!

Well, I must say whining is the one thing that can send a mom over the edge. I don't think telling them to stop whining will work if they don't know that they are. But making them aware of it right as they are doing it, then make them repeat it in a big people voice so you can hear them usually works. Tell them you can't hear them until they say it correctly. Can't believe I am now going to be starting all over with a grand daughter. YIKES
