Summer Beauty

I took a little drive and short hike today and finally sat down to look at some other pictures I have taken this summer.
Its going to be another beautiful harvest this year around here.
The wheat is already turning and is tall and thick.
I was pretty much alone in the Highwoods except for this lone John Deere.
I was searching for Shonkin Sag.  The road had been washed out (talk about sagging!) so I ended up hiking down to look at the damage from the flooding and walking along some farm roads for a bit.
Look at the rows of rolls they already have done!  I have always loved this sight.
...and I saw a duck...she wasn't too happy with me so I didn't stay long.
I don't know what kind of duck it is...yes, I have an app for that but haven't looked it up yet.
I also saw some antelope and a pair of sandhill cranes that were all too skittish to let me get too close.
A few weeks ago we went out looking for wildflowers and found these balsam fields.
You often can see this white flower I call the Q-tip with the balsam.
I knew the name while we were up there but it's gone from my mind.

There was one lone white balsam in the field.
We saw a camas that looked like it was a siamese twin.

I have taken some really great hikes so far this summer.
This was taken on Scenic Point trail a few weeks ago.
It was a fantastic view of the Two Medicine area which is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.
The Going to the Sun Road opened yesterday and I'm headed back up to see what we can see.
It's been a summer of re-discovering and re-defining.
I'm not sure I'm finding myself as much as re-creating.
