Show-N-Tell with Miss Shad

Avery got to take our little bundle of love for Show-n-Tell yesterday.

All the kids oohed and ahhhed but I think my favorite was the little boy who said...
"I'm sure I have never seen a dog that small."

Avery doesn't talk much in school so this was an exception to the no pet rule made by her wonderful teacher as a means to try and get her to talk a little. She did....a very little....but she did. She told how long we get Shad
(two weeks)
what her whole name is
(shadrach-meshach-abednego)
how old she is
(8 weeks)
and where she sleeps
(with Mama)

The other day I took her for a hike with the big boys
(in a fanny pack)

Ok so we are falling in love with her
(a lot)
but we will get to see her in Montana
(a lot)
and know Mom and Dad will enjoy her
(a lot)

Shad's Homecoming

We brought Mom's little bundle home yesterday.
She was pretty shaky coming out into our world.
So, the girls took turns carrying her to the car.

Then they shared whose lap she sat on in the car.
This is what greeted us at home.
We took the day and let Shad get comfortable at home before introducing her to the boys.
It didn't go too great...made me very nervous.
We'll have to take baby steps, one chomp and she would be smushed!
Shad fits perfect in our cat carrier except for the fact that her nose is a perfect size to get stuck in one of the bigger openings if a tooth gets hooked around the cage just right....not that I'm speaking from experience or anything.
The girls discovered that she loves chasing the yo-yo around.
This is one pooped pup.

Meet the dogs...again

Hi, we are Kenai and Koda.
You met us earlier, but we thought we'd fill you in on what we have been doing lately.
We have been EATING!
Eating the water bucket.
The deck...yep, we ate it.
The rocking horse's halter was yummy going down.
The garden hose, not so smooth.
The trumpet vine adds some fiber.
The hot tub cover...ate it.
Sunflowers...ate em.
No pictures were taken of what we ate off the counter but the pillows were yummy!
But, somehow we are still loved...
and loved...
and loved...
and loved some more.

Entertaining a Malamute

These two goof balls have been playing with bouncy balls for the last couple of weeks.
They spend hours bouncing it in the kitchen and chasing after it.
Tonight they discovered the bathtub.
Koda was in the tub for quite awhile before falling.
Then he decided to toss it around for awhile longer.
Tired yet, silly?

Ummm, Koda.....eeewwwww!

Cone-head...canine style

I'm feeling pretty
guilty
right now.
These boys had their
parts
removed yesterday.
It was quite a
traumatic
experience for them.
Kenai freaked out!
He ripped
out
the sutures while the vet was working on Koda.
So she stapled them both up and sent them home with cones.
It's hard to reach those
itchy
places with the cones.
We had no choice but to leave them at home today
alone
with their cones.
When I got home tonight Koda's cone had a big
rip
down the middle.
Yep, those staples were
gone!
I wish I could stay
home
tomorrow with them!
I can't..Joe can't.
They will be locked on the
deck
all day with their cones...
alone.
Poor babies!

Warm Welcome

Grandma's here!
I swear these boys remembered her!
Can you believe this was just in November?
She has already:
gotten a concert
watched Mama Mia
danced
read
laughed
What else will they come up with this week?

First Casualties

Lessons learned...
(haven't found other black shoe yet)

Sunday Hike

This weekend I took the boys up on the hill behind our house for the first time.  They did so awesome.  I am wondering if and when they are going to develop the "run away" trait that our other dogs had.  On our way back down I could see the girls watching me from the driveway.  I waved them up and back up the hill we went.
Avery tip-toed over poky weeds the whole way up!
Kyndra was off and running.
The boys were pooped-out by the time we got to the top!
They just sat and watched the girls run down the road.
It took some coaxing to get them going again.
*big smile on my face*
Then I pointed out some owl pellets that the dogs had actually found on our first trip up.
The girls dug right in and discovered some treasure inside.
They wanted to keep the bones and start a collection...eeewwww!
Once we turned around the boys were off and running.
They met us at the bottom of the hill ready for a nap.
We have so many adventures ahead of us.
I can't wait.
